Screen Reader
A screen reader is a form of assistive technology (AT) that renders text and image content as speech or braille output. Screen readers apply a wide variety of techniques that include, interacting with dedicated accessibility Application Programming Interfaces (API), using various operating system features (like inter-process communication and querying user interface properties. Screen readers are often built into the computers native systems (including Microsoft, Chrome, Linux, and Apple). However dedicated software such as JAWS may provide more features than available native application options.
