Written/Typed Communication

Written/typed communication is when an individual communicates by using handwriting or typing to convey their message without voice output.  In the early days of alternative communication, many patients used a magic slate following the loss of communication due to stroke or other trauma.  Today many patients and students, if physically able, prefer the use of texting.  It is natural and functional.
